A grassroots group of Bismarck musical, cultural arts, and community betterment volunteers are developing a program to increase the region's awareness of the talent that exists locally and the availability of performance venues in Bismarck. Volunteers, led by Bismarck City Commissioner Mike Seminary, have developed a committee that is moving forward to create opportunities for artists to perform in the Historic Belle Mehus Auditorium in downtown Bismarck called "Belle Project".
The Mission of "Belle Project" is to enhance and enrich the community experience by offering a variety of artistic performances and perspectives in the uniquely historic structure The Belle Mehus Auditorium. This concept also addresses 5 of the 11 Mayor's Economic Development Advisory Group's (MEDAG) initiatives including: supporting the arts, community core development, economic and entrepreneurial development, events promotion, and support for regional opportunities and events.
"Belle Project" consists of experienced community volunteers: Ron and Laure Turner, Nolyn Falcon, Keith Demke, Mike Swenson, Stacy Sturm, Dawn Kopp, Kate Herzog, Alan Greenwood, Richard Torrance, Charlie Jeske, Jackson Bird, Brett Jochim, Jerry Haas, Rick Berge, LaRoy Kingsley and Sarah McMahon. The Bismarck Civic Center, which oversees the Belle Mehus Auditorium, agrees that this is a great project for the community.
"Belle Project" would also add to the new community environment in downtown Bismarck and play a vital role in continuing to develop this vibrant and growing community.
Belle Project has created an application for anyone interested in applying to be a part of the program. The application, which includes any form of cultural and performing arts, can be found by clicking here or contact Mike Seminary for more information. "The Belle Project" can also be found on Facebook.
